LittlePiggyTracker on the Miyoo+

Wait for the bass drop ;)

You're looking at and listening to LittlePiggyTracker a tracker for portable game consoles like the Miyoo, RASPI, PSP, etc. Its interface is inspired by Little Sound DJ, a tracker for the GameBoy.

Pixelated piggy

I wanted to make this video because the audio from the Miyoo's speaker sucks, but once you plug in headphones it sounds pretty darn good.

I bought a Miyoo+ the day after the stupid trump tarrifs were announced because I figured it'd be my last chance to get one at its current price.

EDIT: I bought this for $44 (US). Now you can buy it for a freedom-loving $74 (US)!

I knew about trackers in general but only learned about LSDJ from a recent video by one of my favorite music YouTubers David Hilowitz.

After installing OnionOS, go grab a copy of the Miyoo-specific release from the releases page, so look for a file with "MIYOO" in the name. Unzip it.

Create the following folders on your Miyoo's card (if they don't exist, of course):

Startup the miyoo and go to Apps, scroll down to find LittleGPTracker.

Enjoy!

Well, if you don't know how to navigate it, it's a bit of a pain, but the docs are pretty good, and you might benefit from also reading the LSDJ docs too.

What's a Miyoo?

If you don't know what a Miyoo is, it's like a super-powered gameboy. Well, really, it's a tiny, but relatively powerful, computer in a gameboy-like body that can run tons of different game system emulators so you can play your favorite retro (and many modern) games while on the go.

It's got a 3.5 inch screen which is pretty nice and bright, ARM Cortex-A7 dial core cpu, Wifi (if you get the +).

If you get it with a card it'll come with some OS and a bunch of games and preinstalled emulators. But the card is kinda cheap and the OS wasn't stable for me. In fact, it stopped at the loading screen. Thankfully, that was not the firmware's or hardware's fault; just the OS. I had read about this before purchasing so I was ready to change the OS. I still got one with the card because, I knew it would come with a bunch of non-US games and I was interested in doing some software exploration.

Installing Onion OS is easy. Go follow the directions on their site.

And, Onion OS is very friendly, with awesome extras like network shares over wifi (samba) so I can install new roms and otherwise modify the card without having to turn off the device, unplug the card, etc. etc. Highly recommended.
